Radon – What Is It?
Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas from the breakdown of Uranium in soil and rocks. It is tasteless, odorless, and colorless. Radon is the second leading cause of Lung Cancer in the United States, only second to smoking.
How Does It Get in Your Home?
Since Radon is virtually everywhere in some amount, when a home is built, the construction of the home allows for the seepage of this gas through hollow block walls, cracks in foundation floors and walls, as well as openings for sump pits, floor drains, and pipes.
These are short-term test devices (48 hours to 7 days) that contain granular activated carbon which absorbs radon gas. Test kits can be picked up at our office or shipped to you. A return shipping label is provided. Results are e-mailed to you 2 business days after canister is received.
